This very nice and rare N gauge loco by Fleischmann is 7355 K a DB BR 101 electric locomotive in Red livery. It has running number 101 005-7.

The DB Class 101 is a class of three-phase electric locomotives built by Adtranz and operated by DB Fernverkehr in Germany. 145 locomotives were built between 1996 and 1999 to replace the 30-year-old and aging Class 103 as the flagship of the Deutsche Bahn, primarily hauling Intercity services.

In the United States, the Bombardier ALP-46 is derived from the DB Class 101. The Bombardier Traxx shares a common heritage.

The class 101 locomotives initially stand out due to an unusually large slope at the front and back. The body had to be both as aerodynamic as possible, and at the same time be as cost-effective as possible. For these reasons the designers passed on a front with multiple curved areas. Further tapering of the front was also rejected, as this would have meant increasing the distance between locomotive and coaches, in cases where the two were separate. This would have negated the advantage of a more pointed front, due to the air turbulence created in the space between the vehicles.

With 145 built many are in operation at present. The delivery of new ICE units has resulted in a surplus of locomotives. The first two locomotives, 101 112 and 101 119 were scrapped at Opladen in September 2021, after having been stripped of their reusable spare parts.

As Deutsche Bahn is also planning to replace the IC1 over the coming years, class 101 locomotives are expected to be withdrawn from 2023 onwards; a use could be found with DB Cargo, but currently no locomotives are required.

The loco is in very good condition as you can see in the pictures, it is tested and runs with working lights, a complete external visual inspection has shown the overall condition is very good. It comes complete with its box. The box is in good if slightly shelf worn condition.

Overall this is a really nice scale locomotive and would look fantastic on a layout.

Do please have a look at our other listings, we typically have various HO and OO locos on offer as well as an extensive range of imported N gauge locos and other items.

Note: We do recommend all locos are cleaned & serviced, as they have some age to them even if the quality looks at the highest level (fairly standard advice for all locos!).
