A very rare carved wooden 3/4 helmet mask with incised linear designs, open work eyes, and contrasting red and white kaolin clay pigments decorating the mask. 

This genre of helmet mask, known as bolo is worn by blacksmiths at important agricultural celebrations, initiation rites, and funerals in Bobo communities. 


The mask measures 13 x 8.5 inches.  There is no display stand included.
