ROYAL DOULTON DISPLAY PLATE
"KANG HE"
"D4192"
Elevate your display with the Royal Doulton Series Ware octagonal rack or display plate, a genuine piece of Art Deco elegance. Featuring the enchanting 'Kang He' pattern, this plate is a testament to the craftsmanship of 1920s England, adorned with a stunning stag framed by styilised scenery (see photos). With its octagonal shape and slightly scalloped rim, this earthenware piece exudes a charm that is both timeless and quintessentially vintage.
Measuring 23.5cm in diameter and a slim 2cm in depth, the plate is finished with a clear glaze and displays a white ground with colours of green, brown, blue, grey and yellow, showcasing the fine art pottery production technique used during that period. A printed special backstamp which incorporates a stag lying on its haunches, authenticates its heritage, and to preserve its beauty, hand washing is recommended. This decorative item, packed weight at 1kg, will be carefully wrapped in bubblewrap, shredded paper, and recycled cardboard carton for safe delivery.
This series is rare and not often seen on ebay. The pattern quite often has the flow blue colour scheme, this one is more green , brown and grey. The back of the plate is impressed with the manufacture date, "7.27", confirming that it was made by Royal Doulton in July, 1927.Apart from a very small nick to the green paint on the trim, this plate is in good condition for its age. An item for a Doulton collector looking for a rarer piece. I would suggest display would be ideal for this plate.
