This nice N gauge locomotive by Arnold is 2310 a DB BR 194 / E94 electric locomotive in green livery and the running number 194 147–5.

The DRG Class E94 is an electric heavy freight locomotive built for Deutsche Reichsbahn from 1940, with the bulk of deliveries taking place in that year. It was a major evolution of the DRG Class E 93. Railway aficionados still call the type "Grünes Krokodil" (Green Crocodile) because of the resemblance to the Swiss locomotive nicknamed "Crocodile".

The Co'Co' electric locomotives of the E 94 series were intended as the successor series to the E 93 and were used for heavy goods traffic, in particular ramp service on the Frankenwaldbahn and the Geislinger Steige, built from 1940 and designed for heavy freight service. After the annexation of Austria in 1938 and the associated incorporation of the Austrian railways into the Deutsche Reichsbahn, they were quickly recognized as the ideal locomotive for the difficult mountain routes in the Austrian Alps in order to be able to cope with the immediate increase in traffic better than with the outdated and in too few existing old Austrian series.

The use of the 194 series on the Bundesbahn was limited to southern Germany. The northernmost and westernmost points of contact were Bebra and Mainz-Bischofsheim. In addition to transporting freight trains, they were used as pusher locomotives on the Geislinger Steige and the Spessartrampe .

Thirty one remain in preservation.

The loco is in very good condition as you can see in the pictures, it is tested and runs with working lights, a complete external visual inspection has shown the overall condition is very good. A service and more running is recommended as the loco is a little sluggish. It comes complete with its box. The box is in good if slightly shelf worn condition.

Overall this is a really nice scale locomotive and would look fantastic on a layout.

Do please have a look at our other listings, we typically have various HO and OO locos on offer as well as an extensive range of imported N gauge locos and other items.

Note: We do recommend all locos are cleaned & serviced, as they have some age to them even if the quality looks at the highest level (fairly standard advice for all locos!).
