This really nice N gauge tram by Arnold is 2980 a DüWAG GT6 tram, in CGTE (Compagnie Genevoise des Tramways Électriques) livery. It has destination boards reading 12. Carouge and running number 795.
Düwag trams were introduced in Germany in the 1950’s by the German company Düsseldorfer Waggonfabrik, there were a number of variants used in different cities. The GT6 trams are one of those variants. The acronym stands for "joint railcars with 6 axles.
The first GT6 ran in 1956. A large number were made. Some were extended and modified into the GT8 sub variant.
The GT6 was used on all Düsseldorf tram tracks, they were also found on the long-haul lines K and M to Meerbusch. After the closure of the slope line to Gerresheim for trains with Solenoidbremse was the route of the GT6 will only be used with one train as additional staff. Station wagons were in the depots Derendorf, Heerdt, Sky Spirit (now "Am Steinberg"), and Wersten Lierenfeld.
The last car was on 24 Retired in January 2003, after following the euro changeover even got ticket machines. Many cars were retired in Düsseldorf in the 1990s and 2000s a new home was found for the GT6 in Szczecin and Poznan in Poland and in the tram Timisoara in Romania.
Some remain in preservation, and it is possible some remain in service.
The tram is in very good condition as you can see in the pictures, it is tested and runs, a complete external visual inspection has shown the overall condition is very good. The tram comes complete with its box. The box is in good but perhaps slightly shelf worn condition.
Overall this is a really nice scale tram and would look fantastic on a layout.
Do please have at look at our other listings, we typically have various HO and OO locos on offer as well as an extensive range of imported N gauge locos and other items.
Note: We recommend all locos are cleaned & serviced, as they have some age to them even if the quality looks at the highest level (fairly standard advice for all locos!).
