Better yet, this is the VAM-4B “Rusty Fish Hook” variety, a recognized Hit List 40 and Super CD Morgan dollar variety. The variety is known for its doubled date, pitting within the letters “OL” of DOLLAR, and dramatic clashed-die features. Strong clash marks can be seen around Liberty’s lips and neck area, with additional transferred design elements near the lower hair. Evidently, these dies got into a disagreement at the New Orleans Mint and neither one backed down.

The coin displays brilliant silver surfaces with light scattered contact marks consistent with an uncirculated Morgan dollar. Liberty’s hair remains sharply defined, the eagle retains strong feather detail, and the New Orleans mintmark is clearly visible beneath the wreath.
