Up for sale is a fantastic sounding, clean Rane VP12 Voice Processor with genuine North West broadcasting provenance. This unit originally came out of the workshop at 97.4 Rock FM in Preston.
It is a brilliant, versatile channel strip featuring a high-quality Mic Preamp, De-Esser, Parametric "Bell" EQ, and High/Low Pass filters. I used this unit for professional remote broadcast work during lockdown, and it sounds absolutely superb.
Provenance, Condition & Technical History:
The History & Repair: One of the station engineers originally decommissioned the unit and left it in the workshop in bits because a channel was down. He kindly passed it on to me. As an audio engineer myself, I traced the fault down to a faulty operational amplifier. These specific op-amps were incredibly difficult to track down online at the time, I spent the time researching and sourcing the, correct matching operational amplifier to restore the circuit properly. It was a clean, precise repair, and the unit has worked flawlessly ever since.
Physical Condition: This unit has been exceptionally well looked after. It has spent its life in clean studio environments and has never been banged around in the back of a flight case or a transit van. Because it hasn't suffered that kind of road vibration, the board is solid with no brittle or dry solder joints. It's a tight, reliable piece of kit.
Security Stickers: Please note that I have applied security tamper stickers to the top and bottom covers. This is simply to protect the unit and prevent parts-swapping or component-harvesting returns.
Power Supply: Includes the rare, original UK Rane power supply. The proprietary plastic RJ45-type power connector on the PSU cable is a little worn and could eventually do with a refresh to be perfect, but it has been held securely with tape and has worked perfectly and reliably for years.
A true workhorse of a processor, perfect for a home studio, voiceover rack, or for anyone who appreciates classic, well-built analogue broadcast gear.
