The Chinese Young Pioneers (CYP)
The Chinese Young Pioneers, commonly known as the "Young Pioneers," is a mass organization for Chinese children and teenagers. It was established under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and serves as a school for young people to learn about socialism with Chinese characteristics and communism, acting as a reserve force for building a socialist and communist society.
Founded on October 13, 1949, initially as the Chinese Children's Corps, it was renamed the Chinese Young Pioneers in August 1953. The organization targets children aged 6 to 14 who are willing to abide by its constitution and contribute to the cause. By the end of 2025, the CYP had approximately 112 million members nationwide, supported by nearly 3 million counselors in primary and secondary schools.
