Up for sale is this gorgeous, and wonderfully unique, vintage needlepoint footstool featuring a striking, stylized butterfly design. The upper wings of the butterfly are cleverly detailed to look like stunning, vivid green cat eyes—giving this traditional craft a fantastic, slightly mysterious boho-chic or mid-century modern edge. It’s the perfect conversation piece for any vintage home decor lover! It measures 20 1/2" long x 11 1/2" wide x 11" high.
Design & Materials:
The Needlepoint: Beautifully hand-stitched using thick, durable tapestry wool on a uniform canvas. The colors—vibrant orange, deep purple, crisp white, and piercing green—remain bold and eye-catching against the neutral beige/yellow background.
The Frame: Features a sturdy, low-profile wooden frame with unique, beautifully turned wooden spindle handles/rails on either side, making it easy to move around. The classic curved legs offer excellent stability.
Excellent vintage condition! The needlepoint cushion is tight, and free of major wear, pulls, or sagging. The wooden frame is sturdy and structurally sound with light, beautiful character wear/patina to the wood finish consistent with age. There are some light areas in the yellow that could use some cleaning, but nothing on the actual butterfly.
