Product description

Gouro dance mask. Part of over 50 years. Delivered on base.

Coming from the north, the Gouros, Mandé population, arrived in this region in the 16th century.
Gouro are called LO or Golo and are called Kwéni themselves.
The Baoulé call them Gouro.

Gu or Gou masks are mainly female masks that accompany Zamble and Zaouli masks.
These masks follow the man mask in ceremonies.

They belong to the worship of the Yo, and have practically disappeared for lack of attractiveness, their dance being no longer impressive enough.
Nowadays when you mention the gu mask, men raise their shoulders and say it is a mask of the old generation of dancers.

The Zamble mask is very special to the Guro ethnicity. Mid-leopard, half-anthul, it constitutes the link between secular masks and sacred masks.

Part delivered with an invoice and a certificate of authenticity.
