I have a few of these Christmas cards that were never sent in the 1960s by Bill (William) Deramus II or Bill (William) Deramus III, former president of the Kansas City Southern Railway Company.
These cards are just waiting in my possession to be sent to a collector of railroad memorabilia or family member of Bill Deramus. This would be a great gift for someone who lives near West 55th Street in Kansas City, MO.
Bill Deramus II was the president of the railway from 1941 to 1961.
Bill Deramus III was president of the railway from 1961 to 1973.
I am assuming the card was designed in the 1960s, so most likely they belonged to Bill Deramus III.
Zip codes were 5 digits in 1963, and the envelope has a 2 digit zip code, so it is likely this card came out prior to 1963.
The Christmas card was made by Chryson's, a greeting card company out of Burbank, California.
The return address on the envelope is 1030 West 55th Street, Kansas City 13, Missouri.
This is a neat piece of history and would be a unique item to have in a railroad collection. I have a few of these available.
Condition: This card and envelope is in excellent shape. No rips or tears or stains. It is new and unused, but has been stored for approx. 60 years. For the last 10 years, it has been stored in a pet free and smoke free home.
