This is an original early 20th century Ashanti orator or linguists staff top with a leopard motif. 
Made of carved wood and painted in gold, this staff top is a unique piece that features a Leopard atop of a cart, like a farmers wagon or cart, created by the Ashanti peoples, Ghana, West Africa. 

 Such staffs are carried by the Okyeame, the orator for the Royal family or Local Chief who would verbalize the chiefs authority through traditional stories and proverbs.

The staff top measures 18 inches tall x 7.5 inches deep on small display stand.
