Vintage Fry’s Chocolate Selection Box with Smugglers Board Game Lid

A rare original Fry’s Chocolate Selection Box produced as a shop display dummy, featuring the integrated “Smugglers Game” printed across the lid and sides. These boxes were made for grocers’ window and counter displays and were supplied empty or with a simple card liner rather than fitted chocolate trays.

The colourful artwork depicts smugglers travelling between France and England, with period illustrations, rules printed to the box edges, and classic interwar British confectionery design. Because this example was made as a display piece, it shows none of the staining or residue associated with chocolate-filled boxes and presents exceptionally well.

The box retains its original internal cardboard liner and remains structurally sound, with bright colours and clear graphics throughout. An excellent example for collectors of Fry’s chocolate advertising, vintage board games, British retail ephemera, or for use as an interior styling or film and television prop.

Condition

Good vintage condition. Structurally sound with light wear consistent with age, including edge rubbing, minor surface marks, and gentle handling wear. Colours remain strong and the graphics are clear and legible. No major splits or losses noted.
