ANTIQUE VICTORIAN MINIATURE WINDSOR CHAIR
c.1880
A charming and highly decorative Victorian miniature Windsor-style armchair dating from approximately the late nineteenth century.
Beautifully hand-crafted with turned legs, shaped arms and an attractive pierced central back splat.
The chair possesses considerable character and displays all the signs of hand manufacture. There are several small construction irregularities which add greatly to its charm and authenticity.
For example:
The decorative central back splat is not perfectly symmetrical.
One of the turned back supports appears to have been fitted in the opposite orientation to its counterpart.
There are minor variations throughout consistent with hand-made construction.
Whether originally produced as an apprentice piece, miniature chair, toy chair or folk-art example, it remains an attractive and unusual survivor.
Condition:
The chair is structurally sound and displays beautifully.
There are the expected marks, scratches, knocks and wear associated with a Victorian wooden item of this age.
Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
Approximate Age: Late Victorian, circa 1880s.
A delightful decorative piece with tremendous character and a wonderful country-house or folk-art appearance.
An increasingly difficult type of miniature chair to find.
