Stanley Bailey No. 5C Type 14 jack plane with corrugated bottom from 1929-1930. I’ve restored this hand plane to be a fantastic user. I’ve removed surface rust and tuned it up. The iron is the appropriate sweetheart “AA” trademark from 1922-1935 and is almost completely full length. The iron has been squared and honed nice and sharp to 15000 grit with a slight camber. The back of the iron has been honed to 15000 using the ruler trick. The chip breaker edge has been flattened to 1000 grit to mate with the iron. There is some pitting on the top of the iron and chip breaker, as pictured, but totally fine lower down. The rosewood tote and knob are in great shape. I hand buffed the tote and knob with steel wool and paste wax. The sole has been lapped flat. The bed had some spots of original japanning loss, so I used a rust inhibitor that turns a lovely shade of black, very similar to the original japanning, as pictured. This plane is taking nice wispy shavings and is ready for another 95 years of use!
