This is a vintage DeForest of California rooster hors d'oeuvre holder from the 1950s. He is so cute, that I want to keep him! (but I promised that I would downsize, ugh.)
He looks hand painted, and it looks like a tad of the red was rubbed off the top of his comb. It is not cracked or rough there, just not red. (See photos for details). There is a bit of craquelure, also shown in photos. I placed a regular legal sized envelope in front back, and beside him, for size reference.
Design: A hand-painted ceramic figural holder featuring a rooster with a red comb, yellow body, and green/black tail feathers.
Function: It includes small holes designed to hold toothpicks or cocktail sticks for serving appetizers.
Era: This piece is typically associated with the Mid-Century Modern (MCM) era, roughly dating from the 1930s to the 1950s.
Please ask for measurements, if you would like to see them. I get more than triple the listings done when we save the time that would be used in measuring all listings, and measuring as requested. Thanks for understanding.
See photos for details, they are part of the description. I list every detail that I can see, but these are used items, and signs of wear are to be expected. All offers considered. Thank you for visiting my Sister22 eBay store.
