This 1899 Morgan silver dollar is the scarce Philadelphia Mint issue with a remarkably low original mintage of only 330,000 coins, making it one of the key dates needed for a complete Morgan dollar collection.

The coin retains strong overall detail with only light apparent wear across the highest points. Liberty’s hair, cotton leaves and cap remain well defined, while the reverse displays bold wing feathers, wreath detail and complete lettering.

The surfaces are admittedly a little unusual. The coin displays a mixture of pale gold, blue and gray coloration, and the underlying surfaces appear somewhat subdued. It may have been previously cleaned, dipped or otherwise altered before developing its present toning. Basically, this Morgan has been through something, but it refuses to discuss the details.
