Vintage CHINESE JADE & INLAID ENAMEL BUTTERFLIES Jewelry/ Trinket Box HEAVY
Approx 5.25" long x 3" wide x 1 15/16" high.
Genuine handmade, box is covered in sections of horizontal rectangular cut pieces of green jade. Each piece varies slightly as far as intensity of green tones [some lighter, some darker] and the amount of brownish tan swirls within. Absolutely gorgeous.
Lid is inset with black enamel and cloisonne' orange and yellow butterflies on green bamboo leaves. Each surrounded by brass/copper wire with an inset rectangle of wire to frame it.
Very glossy mirror finish on the lacquer lid with a more natural gloss finish on the jade sides. Smooth to the touch and extremely heavy. Beautifully made.
Lid is hinged by 2 brass heavyweight hinges on back, opens easily.
Inner box is completely covered with plush black velvet, even the underside of the lid.
Base of the box is covered in black felt to protect furniture surfaces
Collectible and one of a kind. Exceptionally lovely design.
Very good condition- would list as Excellent but for 2 extremely minor fracture lines [thin cracks] in the jade on the lid, located slantwise across each corner. They are NOT breaks and are very stable, not loose or in danger of flaking off. They simply appear as 2 lines. See last 2 pics.
Rest of piece is pristine- Absolutely no breaks, chips, scratches, dullness, or damage/repair. Lid opens perfectly on 2 hinges. The velvet lining inside is not loose or damaged.
