Viking Persimmon Crackle Patio Lamp/Light - Quatrefoil Fingers, 4-5/8" tall
The Crackle: Viking named this piece in their catalog as a crackled finish "Patio Light" from the later 1960's. Made in the USA, it began as a molded piece of glass that was heated and immersed in water to get the crackle finish, then swung to get the fingers. The crackling is very smooth to the touch, and in the slender finger point tips it is quite textural (see blown-up pic). The crackle was finished off nicely and is very smooth to the touch to show off the Viking quality.
Pattern/Style: Four-finger or "quatrefoil" crackled and swung globe with fairly symmetrical, inward curving petals.
Glow: A beautiful rich Persimmon piece of Viking glass. As you can see in the photos this particular piece has a strong cadmium reactive glow under a UV/blacklight. I have another Viking orange piece that barely shows any glow, so this one just must have gotten a heavy dose of cadmium added to it.
Condition: Excellent - no water scaling, cracks, chips, hairlines, or fleabites. The crackled finish was purposeful, yet it is nice and smooth to the touch.
Shipping: USPS with tracking.
