THOMAS PULGINI (UNITED STATES, born 1965) MID-20TH CENTURY, POST-WWII AMERICAN POP ART/OUTSIDER ART, VINTAGE SIGNED ABSTRACT FIGURATIVE OIL on BOARD, in ORIGINAL PERIOD WALNUT HARDWOOD PICTURE FRAME, SIGNED on UPPER RIGHT CORNER in BLACK ENAMEL PAINT 'PULGINI'
[This late 20th century American Pop-Art/Outsider Art vintage figurative enamel oil painting on Masonite board of a semi-nude girl, staring straight ahead and unabashedly forward, standing before the viewer, is done with heavy, viscous enamel oil paint in red, white and black colors. The painting is signed vigorously along the top margin 'Pulgini' and is framed in a mid-20th century, late 1950's/1960's walnut hardwood picture frame. The work is juicy and wonderfully conceived. It's both incredibly direct and confrontational, while also interestingly remaining sensitive and psychologically challenging and emotionally engaging. Thomas Pulgini, born in 1965, is a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania based American self-taught painter who realizes paintings with broad, aggressive black line and bright, uncompromising colors, making him a sort of modern day figurative Piet Mondrian. The work, while being 'rough and tough' is imbued with tremendous feeling and tenderness. Absolutely terrific.]
