Original 1930s real photo postcard showing the “forest of derricks” in the Long Beach / Signal Hill oil field, one of the major petroleum-producing regions in California during the early 20th century. The image shows dozens of closely spaced wooden and steel derricks with steam rising from active wells, forming a characteristic industrial landscape of the period.

The postcard was mailed from Long Beach on July 28, 1935, and includes a handwritten note from a visitor remarking on the sights of the region. The photograph shows strong contrast and clear detail.

Condition:
Good condition with light corner wear, minor toning, and slight surface handling. Postmark, stamp, and handwriting on the reverse are clear.
