Issued as part of the Great Encyclopedia of Armaments – September 1939 series (Polish: Wielki Leksykon Uzbrojenia – Wrzesień 1939), these two volumes provide a detailed overview of military headgear worn by the Polish Army during the interwar period. Drawing upon archival research, military regulations and rare photographs, the books document the evolution of Polish military caps from the rebirth of the Polish state in 1918 to the outbreak of World War II.
The volumes cover the diverse headgear inherited from the former Austro-Hungarian, Russian and German armies, as well as efforts to standardise uniforms and insignia throughout the Second Polish Republic. Included are rogatywka caps, cavalry and uhlan headgear, KOP formations, mountain troops, infantry units and many other branches of service. Richly illustrated with numerous archival photographs, many previously unpublished, these books are valuable references for military historians, collectors, reenactors and students of Polish military uniforms.
