This really nice N gauge loco by Roco is 02129A a DB BR 160 electric locomotive in DB red livery. It has running number 160 012-1.
The E 60 series of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) were electric locomotives with a 1'C wheel arrangement and rod drive for shunting service . AEG delivered the first machines in 1927, followed by five more in 1928 and a third series of seven locomotives in 1934. A year later, the DR series E 63 was developed on its basis .
The structure consisted of a very short, low porch, the driver's cab, on the roof of which the pantograph was attached, and a long, low porch at the rear, which was slanted towards the end. The locomotives owe their nickname "iron" to this asymmetrical housing.
At the end of the Second World War, there were seven in Austria, but were returned to the Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1945 and 1946 . At the end of the 1950s, the machines were thoroughly modernized and redesignated as the 160 series in 1968.
On August 31, 1983, road number 160 012 was the last example of the 160 series to be retired.
The loco is in good condition as you can see in the pictures, it is tested and runs with working lights. A complete external visual inspection has shown the overall condition is very good. The box is in good if slightly shelf worn condition. We would suggest a service to ensure smooth running due to the age of the loco.
Overall this is a really nice scale locomotive and would look fantastic on a layout.
Do please have a look at our other listings, we typically have various HO and OO locos on offer as well as an extensive range of imported N gauge locos and other items.
Note: we do recommend all locos are cleaned & serviced, as they have some age to them even if the quality looks at the highest level (fairly standard advice for all locos!).
