In order to test the feasibility of regular air mail service, a trial service for a period of three weeks was inaugurated in the prairie provinces.

The service was performed by pilots of Western Canada Airways.

The inaugural mail from Edmonton to Winnipeg was carried by train because it missed the connecting flight.

This cover was carried from Edmonton, Alberta to Winnipeg, Manitoba (where it was backstamped) and is listed in the Canada Section of The American Air Mail Catalogue as 219n.
