We have dozens of letters and original artwork currently in our possession, most of them being correspondence between Mrs. Lathrop and long time companion Helen T. Fay (1890-1972). Miss Helen T. Fay and Miss Eleanor Foote operated the prolific "Mistletoe Book Shop" on Lark St., Albany, NY from the 1930's to the late 1960's.
Authors and artists from all over the world visited this small but widely known book shop to pay their respects, and it was highly regarded throughout the country during its time. The Mistletoe Book Shop was named after Christopher Morley's "John Mistletoe," one of the finest literary autobiographies ever published. We recently sold a signed 1963 first edition of Maurice Sendak's "Where the Wild Things Are," that included an original drawing by Sendak and letter addressed to Ms. Helen T. Fay, and we are also in possession of the original
welcome/visitors-book from the bookshop, that includes signatures from over 40 well known authors, including Robert Frost, Christopher Morley, Countee Cullen, Katharine Cornell, and many others.
