Vintage promotional postcard featuring an autographed portrait of the famous French actress and singer Alice Delysia.

The Subject: Alice Delysia

• Identity: Alice Delysia (1889–1979) was the stage name of Alice Henriette Lapize.
• Career: She started her career as a chorus girl at the famous Moulin Rouge in Paris. She went on to achieve massive stardom in London's West End during the 1910s and 1920s, performing in popular musical revues and working closely with legendary theater impresario C.B. Cochran and playwright Noël Coward.

The Inscription & Autograph

• The Message: The handwriting at the top reads "Au Monsieur Sidney" (To Mr. Sidney), dedicating the card to a specific individual.
• The Signature: Across the lower middle section, she wrote "Bon souvenir, Alice Delysia". "Bon souvenir" is a French expression translating to "fond memories" or "with best wishes."

The Studio and Photographer

• The Credit: The text printed at the bottom right credits the image to Portrait by Janet Jevons, located at 19/20 New Bond Street, W.1 in London.
• The Studio: Janet Jevons was a highly fashionable photographic partnership between Ruby Caroline Jevons and Emilie Janet Tyrell. Operating from their prestigious New Bond Street studio between 1925 and 1949, they were renowned for capturing high-society figures, theater stars, and icons of the "Bright Young Things" movement. Based on the studio address and style, this photograph likely dates to the late 1920s.
