Vincent Bach Stradivarius 16 Tenor Trombone – Lacquer Removed, 1993
The Vincent Bach Stradivarius 16 from 1993 is the classic dual-bore version of the Bach 16 family - with the slide .490″/.510″ draw, which starts narrower in the lower tube and widens in the upper one. This transition gives the trombone a special response: soft when used, with increasing fullness when drawn out - a playing feel that many jazz players and lead brass players find particularly expressive.
This example has been stripped of paint. The bare brass surface is already beginning to develop a natural patina - a process that many players consciously seek: stripped brass vibrates more freely, the sound becomes more open, direct and full of character. Over time, a unique, lived-in look is created that no lacquered instrument can reproduce.

The Bach 16 with dual-bore is a different instrument tonally than the 16M - more transitional character, more expressive potential on the slide .
