The King 4BF Sonorous is King's professional tenor trombone for classical music and large ensembles - structurally on par with the Conn 88H and Bach 42: same bore 0.547″, same bell diameter 8½″, large shaft. In the USA, King has always stood for dark, rich orchestral tone with elegant sonority - the 4BF is the direct expression of this philosophy.
This 1978 example sports an unusual heavyweight valve cover - a rare detail that dampens the resonance of the valve body and can add additional warmth and substance to the sound. Yellow brass bell and nickel silver outer slide form the classic King material mix: warm in the basic tone, precise in response, with natural projection even in large rooms.
This example is in good condition for its age: normal paint scratches, slide without chrome wear, valve runs well. Immediately suitable for an orchestra.
