DESCRIPTION:  Here is a good looking pair of rare mid to late 19th Paris porcelain hand made small jardinieres with rams head handles which are well modelled. Hand painted on a platinum ground with colourful flowers to the front (the white flowers with some enamelling) and back. The rams head handles are fully gilded with burnished lines on the horns  and a thin black outline. The jardinieres have a gilded top rim with a frilled gilt and black band below and sit on a fully gilded circular base. The jardinieres are unmarked and date to circa 1880 or possibly earlier.

SIZE:  The jardinieres one being slightly taller and one slightly smaller than 3 3/4 inches tall and 3 1/4 inches in diameter excluding rams head handles. One weighs 233 g and the other 195 g (428 g )in total before packing.

CONDITION:  The jardiniere with the pink flowers to the front on the inside has a 2 inch fine glaze crack or hairline which does not show to the front and has collected the dirt over the years. I believe it to be a glaze crack but please make up your own mind. The platinum ground is in good order with a little minor scuffing. The gilt rams and heads are also in good order.

The jardiniere with the white flowers to the front has no cracks, chips or restoration. The platinum ground has an area with three small pieces missing and one tiny one to the bottom right of the single pink flower to the back with some scuffing and light scratching. One rams head has not had the platinum ground painted fully to the head on the left side and ware on the platinum ground on the right side. The gilt top rim in good order and the gilt base is fairly worn around the base rim.
