Antique papier mache doll.

Approximately 21 inches tall.

Made in Pennsylvania, United States of America by Ludwig Greiner.

Paper label on back reads Greiner’s Patent Heads No. 6. Pat. March 30th, ’58.

Circa mid to late 1800s.

Papier mache shoulder head.

Sculpted hair.

Painted facial features.

Blue painted eyes.

Paint loss on nose and around neck and shoulder plate.

Shoulder-head has an aged yellow patina, crazing, paint wear, and age-related surface wear.

Handmade Cloth body with Leather lower arms and hands, thin waist, wide hips, seam joints at hips and knees.

Comes wearing cream dress with blue floral print and pleated trims with blue ric rac trim and lined in cotton fabric. The outer fabric has worn areas.

Undergarments  include an undershirt, 2 half slips, as well as bloomers and stockings which are both sewn to the body at the knee joint.

Blue shoes appear to have newer soles but some of the stitching has come undone on  one shoe.

Antique condition with age-related wear.

Doll Comes with Provenance and snippets of records claiming she once belonged to the Author of Dolls of Yesterday, Eleanor St. George and was sold to the previous owner in 1955. I recently obtained the doll from the previous owners estate.
