Here is an exceptional piece of 19th century decorative metalware. This substantial antique centerpiece bowl features an exquisite Neoclassical / Empire Revival design, beautifully raised on a fixed architectural openwork stand.
The shallow bowl is adorned with beautifully cast hanging foliage festoons (swags)
along the rim, while the architectural lower frame boasts an intricately crisp geometric Greek Key
(Meander) border.
Unlike modern reproductions, the bowl and stand are mechanically assembled
as a single, permanently fixed presentation unit—true to the period manufacturing style.
The piece features an untouched, rich golden-brown brass tone underneath,
paired with stunning authentic turquoise verdigris corrosion in its protected crevices. It has intentionally
been left unpolished to preserve its historic integrity and value.
In lovely antique condition, showing age-appropriate wear and surface oxidation that beautifully highlights
its age. There are slight indents to the supporting stands, but no breaks, or structural repairs. The interior basin displays charming historic residue/patchy discoloration consistent with use over the last century (likely from a glass liner, water, or fresh fruit displays).
It measures 22 cm tall, 24 cm wide, and weighs just under 2 kg.
