Silver service cutlery

All pieces are stamped on the underside of the handle with the HARRODS LTD 40 EPNS A1 SHEFFIELD ENGLAND mark

I am offering various pieces of Harrods Harley pattern silver-plated cutlery, on different listings, each plated to a minimum thickness of 40 microns.

These pieces come from a set originally purchased from the Harrods silver department in 1996.

In 1996, silver cost about £3.45 per troy ounce; today it is around £54. As a result, plating to this lavish thickness is no longer considered viable for Sheffield makers. Even Carrs of Sheffield, one of the most established silversmiths, now plates to a maximum thickness of 20 microns.

At current prices, a new 10-piece place setting from Carrs of Sheffield costs £740, which works out at an average of £74 per piece.

They look like they have only been used a handful of times and have been recently polished, so are ready to use.

As shown in my listings, they are available at a fraction of the cost of buying new pieces.

If you are looking to match a vintage Harley silver-service set, these pieces should be an excellent fit.
