Sony PlayStation 2 hard disk drive (BB pack) from Japan. This optional extra allows your Sony PlayStation 2 to utilise a 40Gb hard disk drive. Certain games would install files to the drive, which allowed for faster loading and access times. You could also access game channels on the internet and sign up for a Feega account (Sony finance), to play certain games online (e.g. Final Fantasy XI or Minna no. Golf online). This optional add on is designed to be used with Japanese (NTSC / J region) consoles only. Today I connected the HDD to my PS2 and it still works. There were no strange noises, and when I performed a diagnosis on the hard drive using the BB Navigator software, no anomalies were found.
The BB Navigator software version supplied is v0.30 which is the best and most feature-packed version. You can upload music and videos to your console and you can copy your memory card saves over too. All supplied and pictured documentation and plastic bags are included as per the photographs.
Be aware that this optional hard drive attachment is only suitable for Japanese PS2 consoles with model numbers: SCPH-30000, 35000, 37000, 39000, and 50000.
I have described this item to the absolute best of my ability and made sure that it works. Please be aware that this is a 23 year old mechanical hard drive and as such I am unable to accept any returns. Please also be aware that many of Sony’s online network servers are now obsolete and certain portions of this software can no longer go online.
