Beautiful, high quality (not sterling silver) spoon from San Francisco's 1894 Midwinter Fair, which was constructed in Golden Gate Park, is featuring a design by Shreve & Co. (Other sterling spoons of the same design are marked as such, NOT THIS ONE THOUGH). This design is featuring beautiful handle with figural black bear on top, symbol for California, below miners pan with nuggets and pick and shovel behind and California poppies flowers and leaves with fruits, banner reading SAN FRANCISCO. Teddy bear images at that time were also used as a reference to popular president Theodore Roosevelt. In the bowl embossed is very detailed image of building, the writing is MECHANICAL ARTS BUILDING, CAL. MIDWINTER INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION 1894. It measures 5-5/8" in length (143 mm), weighs 22.7 grams and is in excellent vintage condition. On the side of handle has one little notch, possibly from prior testing, see pictures. On the back it is marked STERELING but it is not sterling silver. Shipping on multiple purchases is gladly combined. Please see other, some rare, collector spoons I'm currently listing.
