Revered as the shrine of hockey, the building at Atwater and St. Catherine was much more than that. The Forum was opera house and rock stage, equally at home to the boxing ring, the three rings of the circus and the five rings of the Olympic Games.
They all came to perform, and watch. A Prince of the church, a royal princess, countless Prime Ministers, and fans by the millions.
Most of all, the Forum was guardian of the banners, twenty-four of them hanging in the rafters in mute testimony to the success and greatness of hockey's dynasty... the Montreal Canadiens.
