A sleek bud vase/weed pot hand turned in unusual African chamfuta wood (also known as pod mahogany). This elegant vase is designed to take one or two grasses and/or dried flowers; seed pods work well too. A traditional item given a contemporary makeover.
Chamfuta wood is found throughout Southern and Eastern parts of Africa. It appears visually somewhat similar to mahogany, but it is typically of slightly lighter/more orange colour and also somewhat denser.
This piece has been finished with a sanding sealer followed by a coat of clear carnauba wax. This gives a long-lasting shine and really shows off this distinctive wood to full effect.
