Description

1899 Case Columbia Graphophone Phonograph Model B, Eagle

Serial number - 415,917

The Serial Number Jump: Production of the Type B started at serial number 80,000 in September 1897. Because Columbia was already using the 200,000 and 300,000 serial blocks for other graphophone models, the Eagle’s numbers jumped directly from 199,999 to 400,000 in early 1899.

Pinpointing 415,917: Records from the Antique Phonograph Society show that around serial number 411,500, Columbia altered its data plates to include "U.S.A." next to the New York address. By serial number 415,000, this transition was complete across the front board plates. This machine sits right at the beginning of this specific manufacturing run in mid-to-late 1899.

The finish and the decal are original. With minor wear, commensurate with age, the case will house your phono for another lifetime.
