Epiphone 2001 Noel Gallagher Supernova — Manchester Blue — Upgraded Gibson USA Pickups — SKB Hard Case
I purchased this beautiful guitar from the original owner (a collector, not a player) in 2003 and only used it lightly in my smoke free personal studio. It's in excellent/near mint condition, and looks & sounds fantastic. Also included is the matching SKB hard case and more upgrades.
Why did I list it as Excellent rather than Mint?
--- Some haziness/pitting in the chrome on the pickup covers. Purely cosmetic, but could possibly be polished out at the next re-string.
--- A small, light scratch on one edge (image #12)
--- A minor paint blemish where the rear binding edge meets the neck (image #13)
--- A minor depression mark on the back, lower left (image #10)
Other than that, it looks and plays like a new, 25-year old guitar because it almost is!
The Supernovas were originally built by Peerless in South Korea, then production moved to Samick in later years. FWIW, the internet has concluded that the earlier Peerless factory builds (roughly 1997-2002) were of notably higher quality than later Samick builds. This guitar feels quite well-constructed and the metallic finish still looks new.
After owning this guitar for a few years, I thought the excellent, resonant body could benefit from better pickups, so I had the skilled guitar tech at Greyson’s Tune Town (Montrose, CA) swap in new Gibson USA pickups, a Burstbucker and a 57 Classic Plus (image #18 = 2007 receipt). Needless to say, this improved the tones and the tonal variety possible while respecting the instrument's heritage. Clean tones sparkle and there's plenty of body to drive creamy distortion.
As with all my guitars, I installed Schaller chrome locking strap pegs for security (the stock pegs were laughable) with an Ernie Ball nylon strap (included). Lastly, I recently polished & re-strung this guitar with .10-.46s.
I treat my gear exceptionally well, I describe items accurately, I pack and ship items to arrive safely, and I deal fairly with everyone. I will ship this item insured within 2 days (Mon-Fri).
Any questions, please feel free to ask this fellow gearhead!
