Rare authentic 1950 Trans World Airlines (TWA) airline travel poster (25.25”x15.5”) is in very fine-near mint condition with very minor wear & tear & creasing. This gorgeous vintage midcentury TWA travel poster features aviation advertising & all the classic Las Vegas avatars at least during that era. The images have terrific color, artwork & design by renowned artist David Klein. This image is possibly the archetypal symbol of Las Vegas as the city initially became world famous or infamous depending on your point of view. This glamorous exciting Rat Pack image turned this dusty desert town into a renowned playground for adults.
David Klein was a pioneering American graphic designer & illustrator known for his vibrant, modernist travel posters that defined the visual identity of the Jet Age. While he also created artwork for Broadway productions including “The Music Man” & “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”, Klein’s most admired contributions came through his partnership with TWA in the 1950s-1960s. His TWA posters combined dramatic, vibrant color, abstract shapes & a dynamic sense of movement. This really captured the excitement & glamour of air travel at its peak.
