I found this machine works wonderfully on cables where the jacket is not melted into the copper stranding. Welding cable has a paper separator which makes stripping the rubbery jacket off super easy and fast. SGT is typically a little more work. SGX & THHN have varying degrees of difficulty depending on the cable manufacturer but I typically find successful strips after careful testing & small adjustments. I didn't use this machine very much and I don't have plans to use it in the near future. It's condition today is better than when I bought it. It has a new belt and is cleaned up very nicely. Brand new units can run easily over $2000. I worked closely with Carpenter to make sure this unit was everything I needed and more (By the way, their customer service team is very accessible and very helpful). As with most machine manufacturers, parts can be expensive. The 1 wire guide is the only one I got when I bought the unit. I found that designing and 3D printing other sized wire guides worked very well for me (I used basic PLA). I might consider selling wire guides at a later time. This machine served me very well.
