It is in very good condition with a few minor issues: 1st page has a tear about 1" long, the spine and binding are slightly loose at beginning of book.  

 It appears to be a first edition, but I am not certain.  I know my father would always buy each edition of Poppy Ott and Jerry Todd as soon as they came out.  

It has the normal wear to be expected of a book of this age.  As for the story, I read it myself a number of times and, even as an adult,still enjoyed it very much!
