Large Antique Vintage Chiltern Mohair British Teddy Bear C.1930s
The lady who owned this teddy bear is 103 years old and started collecting bears when she was 10.
Golden mohair fur, amber and black eyes, black stitched nose and mouth, fully jointed, felt pads with card lined feet and remains of black claw stitching, kapok stuffed.
The bear has an operative squeaker which sounds like a lovely little growl but it only works when he’s led down on his back and you give him a good firm press (see video).
Height 51cm/ 20”.
Fair condition with some fur loss and some discolouration/staining overall, including staining to pads and all four pads holed/ torn with some old stitched repairs, one ear torn and some restitching at seam.
Nevertheless a very handsome bear, joints in good working order.
