The 1969 British Grand Prix at Silverstone is remembered as one of the finest wheel-to-wheel duels in Formula 1 history. Jackie Stewart in the Matra MS80 and Jochen Rindt's Lotus 49B traded the lead repeatedly through slipstreaming battles before a loose rear-wing endplate on Rindt's car forced him to pit. Stewart went on to win and eventually lap the field, taking his fifth victory of a championship-winning campaign. Jacky Ickx finished second in his Brabham BT26, with Bruce McLaren third. Sutton Images' coverage of the period captures the closing chapter of the high-wing era and a defining race in Stewart's first title run.
