The 2012 Le Mans 24 Hours delivered AF Corse's breakthrough GTE Pro victory. Giancarlo Fisichella, Gianmaria Bruni and Toni Vilander piloted the #51 Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 to class honours, fending off works Corvette, Porsche and Aston Martin entries across the Sarthe night. It was a particularly sweet result for Fisichella, a former Ferrari Formula 1 race driver collecting his first Le Mans trophy, while Bruni and Vilander were cementing their reputations as two of the most ruthless GT pros of their generation. AF Corse, founded by Amato Ferrari, would go on to define Ferrari's customer-team endurance programme.
