Up for auction is this Sansui TU-X1 Super Integrated AM/FM Stereo Tuner. I am the 2nd owner of this unit and it was purchased in Germany on a US military base in 1979 or 1980. Everything is all original although it may have been reworked for optimization on 110v in the US because there is a 220v sticker on the back. This TU-X1 is in very good cosmetic condition (see photos for details) only showing minimal wear over the years including some light scratching/scuffing and mild fading to the removable top cover. I've honestly never heard a tuner sound this amazing and didn't realize that it was even possible to listen to the radio in such high fidelity! It far outperforms my Kenwood model 600t and my Marantz 2275 receiver.

The only issues with this tuner that I can find include the FM button light on output 1 does not come on... all of the other lights come on and look great. There is a small crack in the plastic coupler that connects the FM string mechanism to the tuning rod (as shown in pics), although this is not affecting its function whatsoever. The only other issue that I notice is that sometimes it takes about 3-4 minutes for the caps to warm up to engage stereo mode. Sometimes stereo mode can engage upon cold start-up, but others it just takes a few minutes to warm up. Once warm though if you power down and then power back on the stereo mode will engage immediately.

Speaking of stereo mode, this is the only unit that I can find online for sale or that has sold that actually shows stereo mode engaged in the photos. Also please note that in my photos there is no antenna attached and I'm still able to get stereo mode engaged and its receiving a 50dbf signal from a local station. An incredible performer! The same station when I've attached just a lower to mid level antenna is reading at around 80dbf!

The meters all function as they should and seems very well dialed in and aligned to the stations in my area.

I've taken some photos of the inside as well and as you can see it looks wonderful.

This will be packaged very well and shipped via Fed Ex and insured for the final sale price. If you would like to wait to pay until after I invoice you it will allow me to get the exact amount of shipping cost prepared for you.

Please let me know if you have any questions if you are uncertain before bidding and I will answer to the best of my ability.
