STUNNING Vintage Hand Carved ZUNI Corn Maiden Fetish by Claudia or Colvin Peina Turquoise and Coral Inlay Eyes and Clothing Detail, Vintage Native American Art
Approximately 2.75 inches tall.
Colvin Peina (1967 - 2005) was a renowned Zuni carver, son of Ernest Peina and Tina Sice, well known for his award winning fetish carvings. Claudia Peina learned to carve from her late brother Colvin. She is also a renowned Zuni Carver whose work is featured on the cover of Spirit in the Stone by Mark Bahti, as well as on pages 57, 107, and 112. She has been carving fetishes for over 25 years, since the age of 17. The work of these two master carvers bears many similarities, and as it is not signed, we don't know for certain which one it carved it, but are attributing to a Peina family member.
