Vintage HAND CAST BRASS SWORDFISH BOOKEND Philadelphia Mfg. Co. MCM

Heavy genuine brass with a bronze toned lacquer finish over top

A beautiful leaping swordfish/marlin on a crested sea wave styled base [all one piece]. The details are extremely accurate and graceful. The surface of the waves is lovely.

Fully finished and detailed on both sides, so this can be used as a bookend on the left or right. Can also be used as a stand-alone sculpture in its own right.    

Made in the 1950s by the Philadelphia Manufacturing Co of Philadelphia, PA. This company is well known for producing metalworks with very fine form and detail- very collectible. 

This piece originally had a foil label on the underside [long since missing] which read 'HAND CAST PLATED AND LACQUERED' 

Excellent condition

 No dents, scratches, nicks, bent areas, or nicks. The finish is gently worn and has lighter patina in some areas which actually adds to the charm- gives depth and highlights. See all pics and use zoom. In wonderful condition. 

This is a great piece for a collector, a lot of style and presence and would look GREAT on display! Very sturdy and heavy.
