Among the Senoufo, the statuettes are very diverse in shape and function, but almost all play a role in the initiation of the Poro.
These are maternity effigies that represent Kaatleyoo, the mythical ancestor or the poro pest statues, the release which sometimes reach monumental dimensions and which, preciously preserved in the enclosure of the sacred wood of Poro, the sinzanga or sezing, protect the still vulnerable initiates.
