Dismal Desmond was a character that became extremely popular in the 1920s.  This figurine in vintage but I don't know when it was made.  The words "made in Japan" started being used in 1921 so it was made after then.  He measures 7 inches by 4 inches long, tall and is in very nice shape with no chips or cracks.  I've seen him listed as Dismal Desmond but I think he looks rather happy!
