This item is a commemorative coffee mug from Quxouiga Lodge #264, which was the local chapter of the Order of the Arrow (the Boy Scouts of America’s National Honor Society) for the former Attakapas Council based in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Organization and History
• The Lodge: Quxouiga (pronounced "Oss-wee-guh") Lodge #264 was founded in 1944 at Camp John Evans. The name "Ouxouiga" is a Western Apache word for "Thunderbird," which serves as the lodge's totem and is featured prominently in the center of the graphic on your mug.
• The Council: The Attakapas Council served several parishes in central Louisiana from its headquarters in Alexandria. In 2003, it merged with the Ouachita Valley Council to form what is now the Louisiana Purchase Council.
• The Symbols: The "W W W" seen in red on the mug stands for Wimachtendienk Wingolauchsik Witahemui, which translates from the Lenni Lenape language to "Brotherhood of Cheerful Service".
